The Directives on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) in Electrical and Electronic Equipment were implemented by the European Union (EU) to reduce the impact of electrical equipment on the environment at end-of-life.

- Reduce electrical and electronic equipment waste
- Minimize hazardous substances contained in electronic products
- Increase reuse, recycling, and other forms of recovery for electronic products
